The Begining

She remembers the moment she first saw him
She doesn't know why it registered in her memory
Even though she had no idea then
That one day he will mean something

She still remembers the dress he wore
Brown intense eyes in stark contrast with white
She remembers that exact moment
When their eyes accidentally met for the first time

She knew him not, nor had any interest
She didn't bother with a second glance
Little did she know that fate was in action
Little did she know that it was another chance

In the past she has been burned
She suffered disappointment when love was what she yearned
She was scared, and she was scarred
And she had vowed to never again trust her heart

She decided to find someone
Who would make her forget the past
And strange as it may sound
Her eyes set upon him at last

She never acted upon her impulse
For she knew revenge leads to no good
She knew she only wanted to use him
But conscious in her path stood

She joked about it later
She laughed behind his back
Little did she know that one day
To laugh at her face, it’ll come back

She thought he was careless
And arrogant and vain and a jerk
And even though she’s a “little right”
Her opinion of him has changed much

As she got to know him
Although she has no idea how it all began
But little by little she got to know him
And in her eyes, respect he regained

She began telling him things
Secrets she never thought she’d share
His opinions began to matter
She still wonders how they got there

She doesn't know what’s going on between them
Doesn't even know if it’s just her imagination
He knows that she considers him just a friend
But just exactly who is she to him?

He’s always evasive about it
Hinting, retreating and changing
He has her on her toes
Trying to decipher his meaning

She doesn't know if there’s something between them
Other than maybe he’s just being friendly
He is never open about it
And that’s what she finds scary

She cannot define the place he holds
In her life or in her heart
But whatever it is, it’s nice
Even though it's not clear

Even though he annoys her
And at times she hates his imprudence
There are times when she wants to kill him!
His cheeky replies test her endurance

He gets under her skin like no other
And she could strangle him for trying!
But it’s refreshing to see someone
Who has the guts to try

At times he too hates her
Misunderstandings always creep in
He expects her to read between the lines
But straight-forward she has always been

Even now she hates him
For daring to climb those walls
That around herself she had built
With his insults, riddles and all

She does not know what he means to her
Or she to him for that matter
But whatever it is, it’s something
Let’s see what happens further.
