The Blame

*[Here's my latest creation. I do admit that I'm no professional but I so wish I could sing so that I could put life to these raw emotions i.e. my poetry. Would love to have your feedback. Enjoy. =)]


 THE BLAME

You tell me it's all my fault
You tell me I'm the only one to blame
That I brought upon myself your hate

No, my love. That's untrue
Even though I blame myself more than I blame you
I blame myself for falling for you

It's true that I made mistakes
One idiotic act after another
I cringe every time I think of those harsh words
That in my furry I flung at you

You blame me for the bitterness
that's all that's left between us
But my dear, have a care
Be honest and be fair

I hate you too and you know why
But if you're too stubborn to see it
Then let me try:

You did not try to stop me
You did nothing to show you cared
You never did act, or even react
It was your indifference that I couldn't bear

I tried what I could
To stop us from drifting apart
I tried love, patience and even anger
But nothing seemed to melt your heart

So what choice did I have?
Other than to let you go
You can't fight for someone
Who doesn't want you anymore

So now you accuse me of not trying
When it's the opposite of what's true
I tried everything in my power
Everything that I could do

But you sat back uninterested
Unresponsive, unavailable, uncaring
Happy in the new world you had created
A world without me...
You barred me from you
You pushed me away
You had nothing to do with me anymore
You had nothing left to say

So I let you be,
I let you go,
I set you free
To be whoever you wanted to

And if blaming me helps you ease your mind
If it washes away your guilt for not trying
If it soothes your ego, then so be it!
There's nothing left to salvage
Do what you must, as you see fit.

All the tears that I have cried
All the times that I have tried
That was a thousand years ago
And there's no us anymore

If it's a new you, it's a newer me
Your blame no longer affects me.
